If you'd like to record this ID in SoftMouse.NET, here are a couple of tips:

  1. Repeated IDs like Letters are best recorded in SoftMouse.NET in the Alt ID drop down list, which has automation built in on the Edit Litter page. This allows to automatically assign the Ear Punches to your males and females based on your preferred sequence. Learn more on our SoftMouseFAQ website about Using AltID in SoftMouse.NET!

  2. Running IDs like Numbers from 1 to 999 are best recorded in SoftMouse.NET in the Physical Tag Field, which includes an auto-sequencer populating all your tagged animals starting with the first number you input. You can build in an ID prefix for each of your Mouselines if needed. While the system will not prevent you from having the same ID for 2 mice (e.g. in case an older mouse is still around when restarting to 1), it will warn you that the ID is already in use to avoid any data entry errors. Learn more on our SoftMouse FAQ website about Using the Physical Tag Field in SoftMouse.NET!
